Quantity Surveyors of British Columbia represents the people and firms engaged in quantity surveying and construction estimating in BC. About Us

Quantity Surveyors of British Columbia (QSBC) is the provincial chapter of the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS). Founded in 1959, The CIQS works in cooperation with us and other provincial chapters in Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland/Labrador.

In 1975, the (then) Quantity Surveyors Society of BC (QSSBC) became the first autonomous provincial chapter of the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors. Today, QSBC’s seven directors help serve and manage over 250 members, probationers and students to further the study, practice and overall awareness of quantity surveying in British Columbia.

Quantity Surveyors of British Columbia's Purpose

QSBC's purpose is to promote the interests and awareness of those engaged in the calling of Quantity Surveying as well as:

  1. To provide professional advice, and promote the exchange of ideas leading to discussion, seminars, or otherwise, in matters relating to Quantity Surveying, to all persons or organizations having interests in construction.
  2. To assist a recognized teaching establishment in the formulation of an education program in Quantity Surveying as well as to provide grants, fellowships, scholarships and awards to any University or post-secondary educational institution in B.C. for education relative to Quantity Surveying.
  3. To provide funds for research in the area of Quantity Surveying.
  4. To buy, lease, hold, develop, or improve any lands and building necessary for the carrying out of the above objects.
  5. To raise funds by subscription or otherwise in order to meet the above objectives.
